Barred Owl, Sounds, All About Birds – Cornell Lab of Ornithology
Barred Owl, Sounds, All About Birds – Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
Do Barred Owls live in Arkansas? More specifically, Little Rock, Arkansas? More specifically, Midtown, Little Rock, Arkansas? The weirdest sounding creature flew over our house last night around 9pm. I heard it down the street and thought it was maybe a puppy whining and yelping. Then it went right over the house. My son heard it too in his room. “Mom? Dad? What was that?”
So, this page has some recordings of Barred Owls captured in Arkansas in 2005. And yes, this is kind of what I heard last night. Whether or not we have one cruising around our neighborhood remains to be seen. Or, rather, heard. We’ll see/hear what tonight brings.
Hi there. I shall listen to your sound recording shortly. I live in Toronto, Canada, and recently, my wife, Jean, and I came upon a Barred Owl in Rouge National Park, near Markham, Ontario. This was the second time in six weeks that we have come upon, and filmed, an owl out in the wilds. The first was a Saw-Whet Owl. Prior to these two sightings, we had never seen an owl in its natural habitat. Needless to say, it has been an exciting six weeks.
