Here’s another mix I’ve been tinkering with for some time. Over a year as a matter of fact. The bulk of this is a piece called “HUM” that involved two audio “changing rooms” of sorts. I had an environment that was mainly field recordings (wood burning in a fireplace and a clanging lamp post) that I intercut with recordings of amp hum from a faulty Peavy Studio Pro amp with the saturation and reverb cranked to 11. The mixing of these two pieces fit well with a crackly guitar loop I had built a beat around in Ableton using the Grinder Kit and Operator. To my mind, the end result has a Spanish flair a la the molecular gastronomy of ElBulli that I learned about from watching “No Reservations” once.
